Ynysypandy Slab Mill
|
The slate slab mill at Ynysypandy is entirely untypical for North Wales with its three floor design. Constructed in 1855/6 when the Gorseddau quarry was opened out for large scale production. Over £10,000 was spent on this mill which was served on two levels by sidings off the Gorseddau Tramway which was constructed to carry the finished slate to the harbour at Porthmadog. Production peaked in 1860 and the enterprise closed in 1867 with the mill subsequently stripped of machinery. Today it stands as a scheduled ancient monument in the care of the Snowdonia National Park Authority.
Die Schieferplattenmühle an Ynysypandy ist völlig untypisch für Nördlich Wales mit seinem drei Bodenentwurf. Gebaut in 1855/6, als der Gorseddau Steinbruch aus für Grossmassstabproduktion geöffnet wurde. ber £10,000 wurde auf dieser Mühle ausgegeben, die auf zwei Höhen durch Seiten ab der Gorseddau Strassenbahnschiene gedient wurde, die gebaut wurde, den beendeten Schiefer zum Hafen an Porthmadog zu tragen. Produktion hat den höchsten Punkt in 1860 erreicht und das Unternehmen hat 1867 mit der Mühle eingeschlossen, die anschliessend von Maschinerie abgezogen worden ist. Heute steht es als ein geplantes altes Denkmal in der sorge der Snowdonia Nationalparkautorität.
