Puits de la Trouche

This headframe of cut stones masonry is one of older vestiges of the coal mines of the Cévennes.
Sinked in 1848 by the "Compagnie des mines de la Grand’Combe" (Gard), he was initially equipped with a steam engine and used to the coal extraction until 1870.
Incorporated into a vaster exploitation field, he was then maintened for the ventilation and dewatering of the underground works, then again for extraction before his closure in 1948.
The shaft has an elliptic section and a depth of 54,5 m. He give access to two levels, at 24,5 and 52,5 m of depth.
