Dewatering drift
After 1840, the development of many brown-coal mines of the south of France requires the digging of long drifts for water run-off. The number 6 on a glazed brick show the 600 m point since the entry of one of these drifts. We where also astonished to find there an old oil lamp, of the Saint-Etienne's "rave" type, which was very widespread in the country at the end of the 19th century.
