La Belle Dormante

La Belle Dormante (The Sleeping Beauty) is a cast iron Bobin loom preserved at the old TASE factory in Vaulx-en-Velin. Seven-meters-long and 15-tons-heavy, it's one of the last surviving machines of the once glorious lace industry of Lyon. Industrial heritage enthusiasts from the Lyon area and Calais established a network to preserve this giant and to operate it again. The goal of the project isn't only to reuse it for tourism purposes, but also to make it an instrument for artists and fashion creatives to set up their works.
