Torula Fermentation
|
Torula (Candida utilis) is a wild yeast. In this alcohol distillery, that used to produce Ethanol from Sucrose, the molasses was fermented and the residuum of it, called "slop", was distilled and concentrated to be commercialized as potash for fertilizers and feeds industry. The heaviest by-product of slop distillation is Torula yeast, which was directly sold after being dried.
