Pfannendrehturm

Ladle Turret

This ladle turret is situated on the pooring platform of a concast facility. On this picture, it is shown rotated 90° out of its normal working position.
This is the standard working cycle: At first, a ladle with molten steel is hung into the turret and the steel is being poored into the tundish, which ist located on top of the casting channels. (The openings of the two channels can be seen in the lower left corner.) While the content of the first ladle is being poored into the tundish, a crane hangs a second filled ladle in the opposing mounting of the turret. When the first ladle is empty, the turret is rotated 180° and the second ladle is emptied into the tunish. While this is being done, the crane replaces again the empty ladle with a full one.
