Create in 1894 in Onnaing (Nord), the Venot company was specialized in steel structures and mining equipments. She produced many winding machines for french coal mines.
The Pic society was also specialized in the mining equipment, and realized a large part of coal washery during the modernization of the French coal mines between 1948 and 1960.
The coalmining crisis which affects the whole Europe in 1962-1963 ends in the fusion of both companies, who will later bought by the railroad equipment maker Fives Lille Cail.
