50 years ago in Charleroi
A standard 'Vicinal' tram passes the Providence ironworks on the western side of Charleroi. The tops of the three blast furnaces on the site are just visible. All ceased operating many years ago. The tramway, now a light metro, still functions but runs on separated tracks where the wall on the right of the picture is. This is roughly the location of the current metro stop which carries the name 'Providence'.
