Typical of the mining industry of north-eastern China are the huge spoil heaps that dominate the landscape. This example is at the Fuli Mine in Hegang, Heilongjiang Province, and was one of three such heaps at the colliery. The train is operated by the mining company to transport workers from the city to the mines.
