Steam in Jalainur open cast pit
|
Jalainur (province Nei Mongol) was one of the biggest coal pits in north east China. They used steam locomotives (class SY) until 2010 for shunting and the whole transportation of earth and coal in and outside the pit. Today trucks take over this work. But the production is nearly phased out. Only the deep mines are still in use.
The frozen waterfalls on the right side are water sources wich insist from the coal seam.
