Limekilns at Mo Liang Miao in Henan Province, China

The lime industry in this rural district comprised dozens of these small kilns which were burning stone prised from the surface in a mass of small quarries. The stone was delivered with significant quantities of clay which was washed off before burning. A series of catch troughs were located by each kiln to allow the water to be recycled.
